We have proved the awesome accuracy of our breathalysers here by putting them up against an alcohol breath simulator which is used for calibration.

Guth Laboratories has supplied us with a certified alcohol reference solution of 0.100 used in the simulator. This means it will simulate a 0.100 BAC breath. Let’s see how they go!

Hi everyone it’s Dave here from breatho.com.au and I’m here to show you the accuracy of our two new breathalysers; the Personal and the Professional for workplaces or wherever.

As you can see in front of me we have an alcohol breath simulator, and we’re going to be using a certified alcohol reference solution certified by Guth laboratories in the United States, and as you can see should read 0.1 on a breathalyser or 0.1 of a gram of alcohol in every 100ml of breath.

Now we’re just going to start this liquid heater pump and wait till it gets to 34 degrees which is the operative temperature of an alcohol breath simulator.

So we’ll start off using the personal breathalyser, and it should read 0.1 after this. Now it only takes about 2-3 seconds to start up, which is much better than a semi-conductor. So this should read 0.1 after this… and look at that, it’s SPOT ON, SPOT ON 0.1, how good is that!

Now if you’re looking at buying a breathalyser you should definitely choose one with a fuel cell, because that’s what the police use and you want the same accuracy as what they use, especially if you live in NSW because they’ve just brought in a new law where you lose your licence for 3 months straight away if you blow from .05 to .08 instead of just a fine…. Anyway, that’s just a spill, so Now let’s jump in and use the Breatho Pro-workplace breathalyser.

With this one, you’ve got the choice of a passive test that doesn’t require any mouthpieces and you can just blow passively or count from 1 to 10 and it will sense if there’s any alcohol in the air and give you a yes or no answer. But for this test will be required to use an active test, and look at that 0.1 exactly, with no variation at all.

I’m just blown away by the accuracy of these things. I’m so glad I chose the right manufacturer, they’re just awesome!

The technical data actually says the accuracy is plus or minus 5%, but as you can see they’re spot on the mark, so I would debate that they’re even more accurate than most.
